Traumatic brain injury, or TBI, causes damage to the brain as a result of a bump or blow to the head or when an object goes through the skull and into the brain. TBI can result in speech, language, thinking and swallowing difficulties. It can happen at any age, affecting school, work and activities of daily living. SLPs treat these problems.
